I used this activity as a center on our first day covering area and perimeter in 4th grade. It was an amazing review for my students to refresh their memories on what they had covered in 3rd grade. My students loved finding the roadways in the classroom. They walked around (like surveyors with clipboards in hand) and calculated each roadway's area and perimeter. It was the perfect learning center for my students to kick off our unit!
